Universal Restore 2015 fails on vmware drivers

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have an XP Home machine that failed (dead motherboard). Using VMWare I created an empty virtual machine, restored the XP Home machine using True Image 2015 from a backup then ran Universal Restore 2015. The universal restore process throws a few errors related to VMWare drivers (e.g. - PCI\VEN_15AD&DEV_0740 ) which I ignore and the restore finishes. When I reboot I end up with a BSOD (it does boot into safe mode but I can't do anything there). The restore process didn't complain about the motherboard drivers I supplied (XP was on intel, VM sits on AMD) but it didn't say it did anything either. I can eliminate the VMWare driver issues if I disable the USB and Network adapters but I still get a BSOD.

I tried extracting VMWare drivers as instructed in this article - https://kb.acronis.com/content/40454 - but it doesn't seem to find anything.

Any thoughts?

thanks,
Steve
