Universal restore errors

Thread needs solution

I am trying to get TI 2011 "Universal Restore" to work on a test system. Every time I do the restore, I get errors on pciide.sys and halaacpi.dll.

I started with a test system running XP. I copied the existing pciide.sys and hal.dll files (there was no halaacpi.dll file on the system) onto another drive in the system.

Then I booted TI 2011 and restored an image from a different system. I specified to load the drivers from the folder into which I had copied the two files mentioned above.

Near the end of the restore, TI gives me four consecutive errors about the pciide.sys file, followed by an additional error about halaacpi.dll. Of course, the system will not boot.

Am I doing something wrong?

What about copying the entire system32\drivers\ folder and point ATI to it?

You are restoring using the CD, right?

I just tried a restore copying the entire system32\drivers folder (and also copied all .dll and .sys files from \windows) but no luck.

Yes, I am restoring after booting from a CD.

Any other thoughts?

During the restore, you don't put the drivers on the disk you are restoring to, right?

No, the drivers are put on a different HDD in the system. It is accessible during the restore because a) it is on the same drive as the image from which I am restoring, and b) I am able to browse to the folder at the time the folder for drivers is specified.

You are doing the right things. The DLL involved seem to indicate that ATI cannot solve for the disk controllers differences between the image and the test system.
I am out of my depth here. I'd suggest you contact Acronis support to help diagnose the problem.

halaacpi.dll is either on windows install cd (if you didn't install any service packs after original installation, and it's compressed and called halaacpi.dl_ , use 'expand' command to decompress it) or in WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles folder if you installed service pack.
