update gives me blue screen on reboot

Thread needs solution

OS= Win 7 64bit
Build= 7133

Hi,
I just ran the update for 2012 as prompted when I open the acronis app. After install I chose to reboot as prompted and on reboot I got a blue screen.

The pc was able to continue on and start on its own. After booting to windows I was not able to open the acronis app. I got scared and decided to check my windows restore points and I found there were none! Somehow it wiped out my restore points. I restarted again. Then I was able to open acronis. I checked restore points again and there still are none.

Is there anyway to get those back?

This is what I'd do because it's the easiest and fastest, believe it or not and so often works.

Be sure you have your ati serial number written down someone other than on your pc.

run msconfig and on services tab check box to hide all Microsoft services then disable all; then on startup tab disable all.
reboot
now uninstall ati
then install the latest version of ati
then run msconfig and check box for normal startup and reboot.

That will probably get you up and running. If not, then repeat steps except install the version of ati that you had previously that worked.

You can download any build of ati for which you have registered a valid serial number at acronis.com

If you aren't familiar with msconfig, check this out for more info

Thanks for the info.
I should have pointed out that ati seems to be working fine after a couple of restarts without messing with msconfig. My concern was that I wanted to get my restore points back and I was concerned that an update to ati could cause such a harsh crash that it would wipe them out.

Thanks, Mike
