Upgrade to 2010
Hi,
I have had 2009 for some and find that the mounting of disk images does not work correctly under W7, I accept that I need to upgrade to 2010 but notice they charge an additional £14.95 for 12 months upgrades.
Am I correct in saying that any bug fixes and enhancements to 2010 are free anyway in which case the £14.95 is a gamble as to whether they release a new version in the next 12 months.
Have I understood this correctly?

Thanks, I have gone ahead, I figured if there are any show stoppers they are obliged to provide a free upgrade anyway.

Typically, the language is "update" = free bug fix and maybe a UI tweak -- download from http://www.acronis.com/support/updates/ -- "upgrade" = paid new features.
If I don't purchase the US$20 upgrade protection and the new version in a year also upgrades for US$30, then I'd only be out US$10; if there is no new version in a year, I'm out the US$20. Given that they are versioning this product by year now, it seems likely there will be a 2011, but I wouldn't be surprised if it shows up, say, in November instead of being spurred by Windows 7 into an October release.
Last thought... one could download the 30-day trial first and then buy the upgrade with protection for 13 month of current software. But I don't think I'll bother. Maybe if they were offering 18 months or charging only half the price of the upgrade it would make sense. Or just promising a license to the next version would perhaps make the 2/3 upgrade price for upgrade protection make sense.
