Usable within a virtual machine?

Thread needs solution

Can Acronis True Image Home 2011 be used within a virtual machine? There is an incompatibility with Parallels Desktop 6 for Mac that results in a BSOD on startup, rendering the virtual machine unbootable. I had to restore from a system restore point.

Hello Khell!

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here! Thank you for your question, I will be glad to address it.

Acronis products will work in virtual environment created by means of Parallels Desktop. In this case, however, using Acronis products you will be able to manage only the virtual environment, and not the Apple Mac itself. For additional information please visit http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/premium/.

As far as I understood you have encountered an issue while using ATIH in the Parallels environment. We would like to help you with it, and would appreciate if you could provide us with more details on the issue like exact sequence of steps performed and whether you've received any warning or error message.

Should you have any additional questions - let us know, we will be glad to help.

Thank you.

Hi,

This is the exact sequence of steps:

I'm using Parallels Desktop 6 for Mac build 6.0.12092 on Mac OS X 10.6.8 with all available updates. I set up a new Windows 7 Professional VM, progressively applied all available Windows updates and installed exactly two programs (Google Chrome and Microsoft Security Essentials). I now wanted to image this for future use, so I proceeded to install Acronis True Image Home 2011 with the most recent build off your website. After the installation, your installer prompted me to restart the virtual machine. I did so; the virtual machine would then BSOD every time past the Windows loading screen. I had to resort to restoring from a system restore point to remove the program.

Thank you.
