USB External Drive

Thread needs solution

I have two external harddrives, They go to sleep if there not used for period of time. Like 5 or 10 minutes. I don't think there's anyway to turn this feature off. I noticed when I start True Image 2009, that it analyzes all the partions for the hardrives that are attached to the computer. If I start True Image, do I need to make sure that the drives are awake or will the program wake them up? I'm a little afraid the program may hang if the drives are asleep.

Thanks.

Hello kev914,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

The program should find all attached hard drives to your computer. In case you schedule the backup task to external drives which are not currently plugged in you should check box in scheduling window “if missed run the task when device is attached” and “run task only when current device is attached”. Note that you will see those options only in case external device is attached.

Dmitry, you completely missed what kev's situation is. It is *NOT* that the drives are not plugged in, it is the fact that they go into sleep mode.
