using Acronis Backup/Restore on Windows Machine to backup Linux disk

I use Acronis Backup/Restore 12 on Windows 7. Brilliant ! Used Acronis now for many years. However, the Linux version IS VERY EXPENSIVE !!!!!!
I also have a laptop with Centos Linux on it.
If I removed the disk from the linux machine, can I
1. put linux disk into an external disk dosking station
2. use my Windows installed Acronis software to create an image of the linux disk.
If so, can I then restore this image, using the windows acronis software, to a new disk? Will this disk then be a fully functional bootable copy of the original linux disk?
This would then make backups feasible, when important changes have been made to the system.

It's possible it may work. However, keep in mind that some laptops use non-standard drive geometry. In those cases, it's necessary to restore to the drive with the drive installed in the latop.

Why don't you boot to the TI media (CD or flash drive) on the laptop and do the backup/restore on the laptop?
