Using bootable cd only.

Thread needs solution

I have several pc's using win 2000, SP4 and a laptop running win 7. I'm only interested in disk images periodically being saved from these several machines to the same portable external hard drive (via a USB2 port).

Can I do this with the bootable cd?

Again, only to backup and restore disk images and nothing else.

Thank you

Hello  Arnold!

Thank you for finding time to join us on Forum, it's nice you've joined us!

The scenario you've specified can surely be done from the bootable media, but please keep in mind that according to the Acronis License Policy you will need one license for one computer your are going to backup or restore. This License Policy relates to the bootable media as well.

Should you decide to use our product for this scenario, I'd suggest using Acronis True Image Home 2010 - it totally will suit the scenario. I'd advise to test the solution before making a decision. You can find all the information about its functionality in the User's Guide, we tried to make it as clear and understandable as possible.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

Arnold-

I run True Image only from bootable media myself, backing up disk images to a portable USB hard drive, and it suits my needs perfectly. You may consider True Image 2010 with the Plus Pack, which allows you to make a WinPE based bootable media, which I use exclusively - it provides additional tools that are very useful for disk maintenance (such as chkdsk and regedit) that are not present in the Linux-based bootable media options (although the functionality of True Image is the same under all bootable media).
