vmWare & ATI2010

Thread needs solution

I installed ATI2010 on a vmware workstation 7.1 windows xp pro guest (virtual) pc. i successfully created an image of the hard drive saving it on the physical (real) hard drive of the host pc (which by the way is win xp pro also). however when i attempted to restore the image it failed with the error message 'Failed to activate Acronis bootable agent' with event code: 0x00040011.

My question (which i should have asked before attempting this); is ATI2010 supported in a vmware environment?

btw, the host machine multi-boots windows xp pro, vista and win7 (xp & vista on the same disk, win7 on a seperate disk).

thanks, in advance for any/all, help

Have you tried booting to the TI ISO and restoring the image? The error you got may not have had anything to do with being in a VM.

What settings are you using for the VM (especially, which type of hard drive [IDE, SCSI, etc.])?

I have managed to recover images for both XP and Win7 inside a VMWare environment. You will need to see the external hard drive at boot time.

What I did was to set up a persistent hard drive in the VM and do the backups to that restoring from there is possible from within windows and using the recovery CD
