Want to restore desktop PC to a GPT partitioned Laptop (lenovo s405), please help.
Greetings folks,
I have the latest version of TIH 2013 with universal restore plus pack i purchased. I have my desktop pc image and want to restore it to my new Lenovo s405 laptop.
The proble is that the laptop is formatted using GPT layout. When I try to restore the image, at the Select target disk for MBR recovery, i get a warning at the bottom of the screen with an orange background, stating: "An MBR partition layout cannot be recovered on a disk with a GPT layout."
From what I understand, the manufacturer used GPT to store the restore image of the win 8 and apps the laptop ships with on hidden partitions.
My desktop is using regular ole MBR and that's what I want to keep.
What is the most painless method of changing my laptop to use MBR, can I format it using TI 2013 media boot disk? If not, Can I use TIH 2013 to make a COMPLETE backup of my laptop with all the hidden partitions, before I simple format the entire disk as regular NTFS?
Could someone give me a short run down as to what steps i need to take a far as GPT goes. I used acronis in the past to restore to totally different hardware and everything worked, but it's thefirst time i run into this GPT partition thing.....
Thank you.
PS
Forgot to mention i want to restore a Windows 7 64 bit image, over the pre-installed Win 8 crap.

It doesn't matter what hardware was on the old source computer - you need to specify drivers for the new hardware, mainly motherboard and hard disk controller.

Hi dev! Ok I'm trying that now, however every time I specify the directory on the usb disc, I still get popups that the drivers for my: amd sata controller ahci usb host pci to usb amd usb 3 controller cannot be found. I know those are the ones, i cheked the displayed PCI codes on google. So i'm a bit at a loss. I know I have the right drivers from Lenovo, I unpacked them all, they're simple .inf & .dll files, but no luck so far. Does TIH2013 scan just the folder you've specified and so do I have to drill into each driver folder or can I just specify say: X:\drivers where driver folder will contain other folder with all the necessary drivers there? *** UPDATE *** I think it came down to TIH 2013 not seeing the drivers I specify or not being able to read it. Perhaps it is the way the drivers I'm pointing to are laid out. Could anyone please take a look at these and see if they're in the right folder structure? Hosting them on my dropbox account.

At least for ABR family it searches in subfolders - http://kb.acronis.com/content/4000
If you specify drive letter of USB disk, in bootable media its letter will be different (as I understand the target computer is without any usable OS now, so what letter do you specify?). I'd try to check 'search on removable drives' too.

Ok, i just decided to install a fresh copy.
Imaging that works fine.
But there's definitely a problem with TIH rescue boot disk. It kept crashing and pc was turning off when i tried selecting multiple drivers.
