Weird "Acronis TI cannot detect volume 1 of ... archive" message with bootable media
I am using 6597 of ATI 2011. I have created a bootable USB drive. I tried it to see if I could see my images and validate them.
When ATI 2011 starts on the USB, it shows the images correctly.
When I select an image and try to validate it i have this error message popping up:
"Acronis True Image cannot detect volume 1 of [selected backup name] archive".
- If I click on browse, and browse to the location and select it from there, it works and the image validates,
- If I click on retry, the message stays there,
- If I click on cancel, the backup disappears from the list. If I use browse for backups and select the image, then it shows up back in the list. This time when I right clik validate, the validation starts without the error message.
So, not a showstopper it looks like, but a dubious error message...
Is there something wrong with the images or the bootable media? Maybeit is because the destination disk label changes from the Window environment (V:) to the bootable media environment (F:)?

Sorry for the late reply (only a couple of years late!:o)
Just in case you're still wondering, I agree with Pat -
"Maybeit is because the destination disk label changes from the Window environment (V:) to the bootable media environment (F:)?"
I backup to a portable USB attached drive (K and L partitions) and Acronis knows about them.
But the boot-up option seems to dynamically assign drive letters, probably because it's Windows (Vista in my case) which is setting the hardware properties to K and L.
As MudCrab says, browsing to it finds the partition and the backup, and restores fine.
Moral? Always call your partitions something meaningful! :o)

Yes, this issue shows up anytime the Windows paths and the Linux rcovery paths differ.
