what is the best backup method Disk mode or partition mode

Thread needs solution

I have a hard drive split into two partitions and I would like to back this up with true image home 2011.
So my question is when I go to disk and partition backup, I can choose between a partition mode or disk mode, I understand the partition mode is just the one partition and the disk mode it all the partitions on the disk.
But what are the advantages and disadvantages of these two methods please

Edward,
Hello... At some time in the future you might want to only recover one partition... Also you may only want to backup your OS and not the "DATA" drive (if that's how you have it set up ) Just more flexible to do independent backups... Regards Fred

Ok thanks for the info.
i have my operating system on a seperate drive i have one drive split into two partitions one to save photos and video and one for general data. It was the photo and general data i was asking about. i always backup my operating system on its own.

It's not a problem to restore a single partition from a multi-partition or Entire Disk Image backup. Basically, it comes down to what you want. Doing them separately allows you to create different schedules for each partition, for example.
