Where's the password for backups stored in ATIH2010?
See subject.
When I create a task to create an encrypted with password backup, where does the password stored in Acronis configuration files? Is it clear-text stored or is it (the password) encrypted somehow?

Thanks for mentioning - I do have this bug, too, but the content is still seen after escaping that dialog.
Though, I still want to know how secure to have the password for backups stored in Acronis config.

Hello all,
Steve, let me answer your question.
The password for the encrypted backup archive is stored deep in .TIB file itself. Also the password is also encrypted.
David, our development team is working to fix the issue, we're really sorry for the inconvenience.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions
Thank you.

Ilya, I meant where's the password stored in a task (that contains backup settings for that task)? Cause when I run the task again - it doesn't asks for password it uses one from the first time.

Hello Steve,
Thank you for the clarification.
Indeed, the task password is also stored in the configuration file, however it is also encrypted.
Please have a look at the below configuration file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<backup_archive_operation_options>
<backup check_after="false">
<archive_options check_network_timeout="true" id="0" network_timeout="0" password="001F5tJuND4n4bIJKD">
Actual password for the backup is 1234.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you

Thanks, Ilya!
My last question, is it a strong encryption?
- Accedi per poter commentare

Hello Steve,
Thank you for the question,
Yes, it's a strong 128-bit AES encryption and it's almost impossible to decrypt the password.
Please let me know if you need any further assistance.
Thank you.

Hello Ilya,
archive_options check_network_timeout="true" id="0" network_timeout="0" password="001F5tJuND4n4bIJKD"
Actual password for the backup is 1234.
