Windows 7 locks when when varifying backp. Running True Image 2013 build 6514

Thread needs solution

I am having a problem when True Image tries to do a validation against my backup. The backup appears to work fine - but when it tries to validate the backup - Window 7 Ultimate hangs up. I reboot - then try to manually perform the validate and it hangs. I have 32 gig of memory along with McAfee.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Where is the backup located?

It is on a NAS - N4200PRO - my laptop is connected wireless N.

It appears that it locks up when I backup an external drive and then tries to verify the backup - connected through USB 3.0 which is connected to a 7 port USB hub by U Speed. I have over 1 terrabyte of available storrage on the NAS.

I stopped backing up the external drive - and now when it tries to verify I get the error - Error reading file. When I manually try to verify - I get the same error - I reboot and still get the same error.

Thank you for replying to me.

Regarding the network drive:
When using ATI with a network drive, use a UNC path to your NAS device for a backup destination, not a typical friendly "mapped" drive. e.g.
\\192.168.2.25\My Backups\

There's a good chance that network latency or connectivity issues are responsible for True Image's difficulty creating or verifying images on the network drive.

Regarding the external drive:
Don't connect via a hub, a port in a monitor, a USB extension cord, etc. Connect the external drive directly to a USB port on the rear of the computer case. See if that works better.

I have my NAS defined as \\N4200PRO (the UNC) and NOT using a drive letter.

I also found - that I can backup with no problem. I can verify with no problems when I have the laptop hard wired to my network. It even backs up my external drive fine when using the USB hub. It also verifies with the use of my external drive on the USB hub when hard wired to my network.

My problem is when True Image tries to verify the backup wireless on my network. It appears to backup fine but it is on the verify.

I have no other problems with my laptop wireless. My connection is 802.11N and my router is from Verizon since I have Verizon FIOS.

Again thank you for replying and giving me suggestions - it is nice to see that someone cares.

From what you say, it is possible that the packets True Image sends are overwhelming the WiFi packet buffer. There could be too many send and requests for resend for the WiFi transmitter/receiver stack to cope with.

This is just a guess, as your wired connection works OK. Have you downloaded and run Wireshark to see if packets are getting rejected when using WiFi?
