Windows 7 Ultimate Boot from Image

Thread needs solution

Hello,
Sorry for my English I´m from Germany

I tested  Windows 7 Ultimate ( Bulid 7600 ) in a VM. (VMware)
I installed Acronis True Image 2010 (Bulid 5055), and would like to try booting Windows in the virtual machine.
When I created the boot image to add to the list ( Acronis Boot Sequence  Manager ), I get the following error message.

The selected operating system contains no Windows 7 Choose another archive. (see File attachment)

The archive was I marked ,  created 10 minutes ago from Windows 7 Ultimate

The Acronis Boot Sequence Manager, adds boot items to the W7 BCD Menu, and it looks for either tib or vhd files and Windows 7 needs to be the base operating system, as it is only W7 that has the capability of booting from a virtual image.

So just to make sure I understand you, at the moment you have,

An operating system with VMWare installed.

You have made an image of W7 from within the VM.

Kai:

From what I understand, the Acronis .tib file must first be converted to a .vhd virtual hard disk file before you can boot it from Windows 7 boot manager.

Hello Kai,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

You can convert Acronis True Image Home 2010 TIB file to Windows backup VHD file to be able to boot from it. Check the following article for step-by-step instructions.
