Windows 8 and TIH 2010?

Thread needs solution

I tried to install TIH 2010 on Windows 8, and Windows refused to run the setup program claiming program incompatibility.

Does anyone know how to get around that issue? TIH 2010 worked fine with Win7 for me, so I would expect it to work with Win8 as well, but first I have to get it installed.

Thanks!

I finally remembered the workaround for the compatibility check from Windows 7 days -- rename the installation file iexplore.exe and it installs fine.

Now, has anyone tested TIH 2010 on Win 8 to determine if their are any issues? My first backup ran without error messages, but that's not sufficient proof. I was able to open a TIB file and recover some files from a Win 7 backup that I needed.

I use TIH only for backup and restore to a hard drive -- no online service, no trial stuff, just basic backup and restore. I sometimes restore an entire drive and sometimes selective files.

TIH 2010 works fine on Windows 8 for me, after setting its compatibility flag to "Windows 7". Before I did that, only regular backups would work, not the scheduled ones. To be safe, I set the flag on all .exe in the Acronis folder and in Common Files\Acronis.
