Windows Installer Error
While trying to install, the install fails indicating that 'The Windows Installer Service' could not be accessed. I'm at an absolute loss of what to do. I checked around the internet, but was unable to locate anything that resembles a fix. All help appreciated...
Running WIN7 with the latest patches/updates....
Thanks,

No help yet? I just had a client upgrade to 2014 to hopefully correct a critical problem with TIH 2011. It won't even install. It looks like I'm going to have to cough up the original purchase price AND the upgrade. Thanks Obama!

Walt,
Not a peep..... I've spent the last 2 days looking for a solution. Evidently I'm not alone, as there are many more out there. Did a google search on the installer, and got a bunch of suggestions that others tried, all with no luck...They think it happened around the SP1 update. It's kinda weird, the installer is there, when you type the exe name in the 'run' window, the installer comes up and puts a window on the screen with the command syntax, but I've not gotten that to work....
I keep hoping for a fix, I do not want to relload windows and then have to reinstall all my apps..............
Still hoping for some help.......
Henry

I don't have the solution but a couple things you could try.
Check the Windows services and make sure the Windows Installer service is not disabled. It is normal "Manual" but it would not hurt if you changed it to Start and retry.
If you currently have a version already installed, you could run the Cleanup utility (link below) but be sure and follow the written/common instructions included with the KB article.
