Windows updates not shown after recovery.

Thread needs solution

Windows system updates do not appear after using Acronis recovery on my W/7 home PC. When I Click on Windows Update in the Control Panel windows update advise updates had never been installed. The PC is 2 years old and all updates have been installed prior to the recovery by Acronis.
I then did a 'install updates' which found 7 new updates just recently provided by Microsoft which I then installed successfully. These are now the only ones shown in the update window.
In the previous version of Acronis 2014 all updates were shown after any recovery carried out.

Could anyone advise if they have had this problem and if so is there a work around?

Yes I'm having the same issue with 2015. Does anyone know why this happens? Or know how to fix this issue?

Here is a link that may help with Windows Update problems.

Thanks for the info, but windows update is still working it's just not showing the installed updates. As I stated in the previous when I tell it to search for new updates it finds one new update, and I can then also see a list of updates I hid that I did not want to install. Just for some reason it no longer shows the updates I had already installed.

Hi Jeffrey Catt, Thanks for your reply. I should have mentioned it was only Acronis True Image 2015 I was having this problem with. I did presume all the updates were still installed but as I reported I could not see them. As I prefer to see updates that are installed I have since uninstalled 2015 version and have gone back to the 2014 version which show all the updates. Acronis 2015 has a problem.

Thanks Enchantech for your reply. I had a look at the link you suggested but as I have already uninstalled True Image 2015 and gone back to 2014 decided I would not be worth the time to take any of the advice in the link as 2014 works fine and shows all of the updates. Thanks for your time.

I haven't experienced this issue, but I create all of my system images with the 2015 rescue media. The list of exclusions for the 2014 Windows application and the 2015 rescue media are the same. Looking at the exclusions of the 2015 Windows application, it looks like removing "System Volume Information" from the list of exclusions would probably resolve this issue.

Hi Joey, Thanks for your input. On my version of 2014 'System Volume Information' is not in the list of exclusions so that may be why I see updates, but then you say the exclusions are the same in both versions! As you have not experienced this issue with 2015 do you have 'System Volume Information in your list of exclusions, if seems you do not? Should it be there by default?

After some testing, I found removing exclusions from the list of the 2015 Windows application had no impact on the Windows update history. Then I thought about Microsoft VSS and searched the Acronis knowledge base which returned the information in the link above. The 2014 Windows application uses Acronis VSS and the 2015 Windows application uses Microsoft VSS by default.

Thanks Joey, You may have found the answer. I check the VSS settings in my version W/7 and it is set to 'Manual' and as I am now using Acronis 2014 and can see updates I left the setting as it is. I am tempted now to reinstall 2015 but am a little bit nervous as you say VSS is installed by default in 2015 and you can see updates. I could not. so I would properly have to disable VSS and I am not sure what effect this would have on my system. I have 2015 on file so it would not be any trouble. I may give it a try one day when I have time. Thanks very much for your time you have done well.
