Would you advise for or against compressing backup? Compression option missing?!

Thread needs solution

Allow to explain situation.
I have like 400 pc games installed.
I could get GREAT compression benefit.

But does it affect the integrity of my backup?
I wish to have safe backup.
Is it best no compression? Or is it safe to give it some level of compression?

Or atleastr I thought this function was available within acronis. But I can't seem to find it aswell?
I thought it should be at the submenu where performance - priority is, but it isn't there....

Hello Reconhell,

compression level affects only backup time, but not the backup consistency.

Also please note that this option is available only when you create a new backup plan and cannot be changed later by editing backup plan.

Thank you.

If you have a lot of games, there is a high change that very few of the games files can be compressed further effectively (you have exe, video files, etc.). You won't gain anything with high compression, in fact you might lose. With normal compression, with already compressed file formats, you end up with about the same size in general, because you always have a few xml, txt, office files in the mix (maybe) of which effective compression compensates for the data that ATI adds in its archive for integrity validation checking later.
