Acronis 2017 Restore Question

Thread needs solution

I upgraded my MacBook Air (2014) to Apple's "High Sierra" OS (10.13).

Before upgrading, I imaged my latest 10.12.6 partition using TI 2017.

Can I safely restore that HFS+ partition image 'over' the current partition, which is now using Apple's new APFS file system.

Correction:  MacBook Air has TI 2015, not TI 2017!

SB: Before upgrading, I imaged my latest 10.12.6 partition using TI 2015.

Hello Vic,

I'm afraid, the direct restore of a HFS+ image to APFS won't work. You'll need to format the target drive and leave it unpartitioned, then restore your old image and only after that convert to APFS if you wish or stay with HFS+.

What goal you want to achieve restoring an older image after upgrade?

A side note: we'd recommend upgrading to Acronis True Image 2018, that comes with support of High Sierra

Ah, you are here Ekaterina.  Hello.  :-)

Thank you for your answer.  I now know what to do - and what NOT to do.

You asked "What goal you want to achieve restoring an older image after upgrade?"  I make image backups as a safety net.

So far, "High Sierra" MacOS seems to be running fine on my older hardware.  The only slow-down I have noticed is the time it takes to boot-up.  All is well once computer wakes up.

Ciao,  - Vic S.
