ATI2018 - trashing main disk of iMac

Hi guys - did anyone had this experience when doing Acorns True Image backup to the external disk the program definitely writes something on the main (Macintosh HD) drive where the OS X is. In one night the disk space was reduced to 23 Gb left out of 500 Gb (SSD) and before the backup I had about 380 Gb free.

Minor update to the situation - I had to reveal the hidden files on Macintosh HD and found folder Acronis in /Volumes folder. Though hidden Mac files/folders were revealed and opened, I was not able to open Acronis folder (it had a red sign on it) and any attempt to open lead to a message that I have no permission to open that. Why, the hell, I cannot see the contents of the folder under admin rights???
