Disk Director Question - Will it work?

I have run into a very odd situation. I have a small IT company and I aquired a client who has a a Windows SBS 2003 Server. The server is physcially a Dell 2600 Dual Xeon with 4 GB of ram and a Perc RAID Controller running two arrays one is a mirrored set the other I believe is RAID 4 with 4 drives. The problem is that the server is aging and some parts are no longer available like the power supply!! I had to get a power supply warning to figure this out.

Now we have built a new server with basically the same array structure just bigger drives and what we want to do is to use Acronis products to move the server to the new hardware(Acronis w/UR) BUT the person who configured ths machine made a mess of the partitions with an old copy of partition manager. There are three partitions C D and E. E is a single partion spanning the RAID 5 array but it is a dynamic disk!! Luckly since this is data it really shouldnt be that hard to just backup and restore using tape and BackupExec.

The C D partitions are another matter entirely. We have the C parition which is 14 GB with only 2.5 gig used (mosly for a pagefile) It is the "ACTIVE" partition. Then there is the D drive it is about 56 GB with only 2 GB free! It contians windows and program files and is the main system drive. In disk manager the C drive is marked System and the D drive is marked Boot!! I wanted to know will disk director 10 (for which they have a license) will be able to merge these two partitions and still boot!! Luckily the C and D partitions are on a basic disk not a dynamic one like the other drive. Then hopefully, I can use TrueImage to move the system paritition then use BE to restore the data drive. Is this possible?

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here! I understand your concern, and will do my best to shed the light onto the situation.

I regret to inform you that this scenario won't work. In such configuration Windows will get insane after the merge: 

When merging the partition, Disk Director chooses one drive to be a primary one (where to merge). The data from the second partition is simply copied to the primary drive to a separate folder. This is the design of the product, it works well with the data partition merge, but in your configuration it may cause troubles.

Unfortunately at the moment there's no workaround available, but rest assured I've already forwarded your comment to the Product Management and Development team, and they will look into the ability of implementing a workaround in future releases.
