I have ME from some time ago and am interested if I can make a clone of my WinXP home boot disk where the clone will be attached by USB during the ME run. Drives are both SATA 3. If so, will the clone be ready to replace the original disk inside the PC and able to boot etc?

Welcome to our Forum, it's nice to have you with us.Thank you for finding time to open a thread regarding this question, I will be glad to address it.

Unfortunately it's highly not recommended to clone onto the drive that it attached via USB. Otherwise you will not be able to boot from the new cloned drive. I would advise you to refer to this KB article. It's marked as being related to the laptop cloning process, but the instructions in it can be applied to any other hardware configuration.
