I am having the same issue. My Outlook pst file is completely erased and the ironic parts is... I am only backing up files in My Documents. What is going on? First time I started doubting myself maybe I making a mistake. I even paid for Technical Support which was a total disaster. I was told that Acronis True Image has no effect on the Outlook data file when backing up My Documents. Well, figure that! The second night I ran an incremental backup again it happened again. What a joke. Has anybody an idea where this file went? Can it be recovered? HELP.... This is serious stuff. Seriously, I am going to ask for my money back.

I backup my outlook pst files every day to my Nas box, I have never had any files disapear I am running ABR10 Advanced Workstation on XP Pro.
Very strange

I've made backups of My Documents, which my .pst file just happens to sit in also, without any issues. Just out of curiosity, have you tried renaming the file when you run the backup? Perhaps just the file extension and see if it leaves it alone.

Hello,

I am familiar with the issue you are experiencing and will do everything possible from my side to provide you with the clear explanation.

Fastfouine and Marc,

I assume that you are using Acronis True Image Home 2009. The old builds (including #9646) of the program deleted the .pst files if the backup of the entire partition/hard drive failed or was interrupted. The issue has been fixed in the latest build of the program starting from the build #9709. You can check the build number navigating mouse cursor to upper line of the program then press ALT + left mouse button -> Help -> About.

That's why I suggest you to update the program to the latest build (# 9809), the issue should be resolved. You can learn more on how to download the latest build in this article

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawless for you.

Please let me know if the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question.

Thank you.

I've had the same problem (including also having my Picasa database deleted).

Yep - old build version. Given you had my email address I would have liked an email saying what a massive problem existed.

And now my Outlook file is deleted, is there any way of getting it back? I clearly can't rely on my backup!

 Hello Sean,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help. Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.
If you have a backup file created with a previous backup operation (the .pst file could be deleted by a failed or by a canceled operation only), you can exclude (use Explore or mount options available in Acronis True Image) or restore the .pst file from the backup image and place the file to the directory where it was located previously.
The default paths for the .pst files are the following:

Windows  98/ME: C:\Windows\Local Settings\Application Data

Windows XP/2000: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Windows Vista/7    C:\users\Username\appdata

If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.
