New Version 6027

Thread needs solution

I am scared to download version 6027. Beta Testers had to work extremely hard to get version 5634 to where it was acceptable. Please let me know if you have installed 6027 and if you have encountered any problems. I'm happy with 5634 and don't see any need to upgrade at this time.

Hello Techno,

I updated 3 computers today with TIH2016 ver 6027.

The upgrade was accomplished automatically without any trouble.

As a test, I created a new image of my OS partition and a Data partition.

The backup was accomplished quickly and without errors.   (An 80 gig OS backup image completed in 12 minutes)

As a followup, I created a new recovery media from the new version and executed a recovery of both partitions to a blank HDD.

The recovery was flawless and the HDD booted without any problem.

Steve

Still has the "Sign in" nag screen, I see... unbelievable.

6027, update went well, my scheduled backup ran OK, I haven't done a system restore yet (I know that's the REAL test of the software).  I will, need to make a new windows backup just in case Acronis lets me down, it hasn't so far...

I updated to 6207 and all is well.  Created both Linux and WinPE backup and recovery discs and flash drive.  All working well!

When I have 8 machines running well on 5634 I'm hesitant to upgrade. Have you noticed any problems with the GUI?

I have noticed that the green icons to the left of the backup names are gone unless you make the panel with the backup names a tad wider. If you now close TI2016 and re-launch it the green icons are gone this time as well. See the attached image for the green icons i am talking about.

I was afraid there would be problems with the GUI. Do you like the new GUI better than build 5634.

Besides the missing icons, yes i like the new UI more than the one in #5634. However, i don´t like to having to bring back the icons manually each time i use TI2016...

So, is the update to 6027 a 5.1MB file labeled "AcronisTrueImage2016_web" and it just patches the existing TI2016 that is installed?

Thanks

steve rose

You should be able to download it from the application. That file may link you to the correct file but it isn't the installation file. Yes, it patches the installed build.

Since the upgrade, bootable media not work (not find hard drives event code 0x000101f4+0x000a01fd) and recovering from windows happens the same (faild to open backup).

I also noticed that the "Green Icons" the check mark inidators on the left of each task name were not there when the program initially opened.  Once you slide the take name window smaller or larger, they re-appeared.  No biggie there...  I did not have any trouble with creating or using a new bootablew media DVD .  It worked and I actually did a restore of the OS partition and data partition to test the new version.

I have not done any testing with the dashboard.

Steve

Confirm the green icon problem. Otherwise, 6027 seems to work.

And I have never been nagged by any cloud sign-in dialogue.

The dashboard seems to work better. I mean that I was not able to delete a device before. Now I can.

Hopefully Acronis will patch the green icon problem. The dashboard problem being fixed was probably a coincidence. I was able to delete devices until recently. Opened a support ticket. Well, you know. Magically, I was able to delete the device several days later. Dashboard has its' own problems. Slow updates and having to log out and back into the application to get the dashboard to update. I also have to open and close the application to see the latest cloud backup of other computers.

Restore to previous image , with previous bootable usb and everything works now. The b6027 appear to lost the drivers in recovery ambient. Besides no finding HD, mouse and keyboard do not work too in recovery ambient.

The new version 6027 has disabled my Windows 10 "Fast-Startup" option...

Don't ask me why ATI should have anything to do with it but I've reimaged back to v5634 and that version did no such thing?? I then updated again just in case it was a one off incident but no..... it did the same thing and kept changing the setting back when I tried to reset it..??

To be fair I installed the update (from v5634 to v6027) on another Windows 10 PC and it did not do this - but it's still a strange one....

This morning, a pop-up on boot advised of a new update, so I'm thinking maybe they've fixed some of the many annoyances. Run the update, it gets about 95% complete, and I get an error that postinstall_actions.exe has stopped working. Close the error box, try running TIH2016, get another error stating "Cannot create a database" and before I can click OK, another error "TrueImageMonitor.exe has stopped working".   Thinking maybe my firewall might have interfered, I restore from yesterday's backup using my universal restore USB stick, disable the firewall and antivirus, and get the exact same results.

Restoring yesterday's backup, agai.n, since the "updated" version does not work at all.

Getting really tired of fighting with this program.

well , it is no better than before regarding "freeze", I did 2 cloud backups ok and now trying a local, since then the computer freezes occationally every 25 seconds (10) no progress. pretty anoying..... and a restart takes 20 mins.

mats

Did a complete uninstall of entire program, rebooted, downloaded 6027 and re-installed.  Seems to be functional.

Really do not have time to be beta testing for Acronis...

That is the application. Use task manager to look at the apps and background processes. How many instances of trueimagehome.exe are running? What is the CPU usage when the system freezes? Sort by CPU to see what apps and processes are freezing the CPU.

It is called trueimageservice.exe , and i have to kill the shedule processes too it seems, after that it works ok again...

I've noticed a couple of oddities:

1) Some of the backups that I made with 5634 are now shown as 'Other' in the backup list.  Can I still use them?

2) Windows 10 now takes a lot longer to boot up.  I seem to get two doses of the 'Light through The Window and Spinning Balls stage' where I had only one before updating to 6027.  This is true of both the PC and the laptop and *only* happened after the 6027 update.

So far, I have been able to successfully back-up and restore the boot drive on the laptop with 6027 (don't ask why - long and silly story!) but am not sure I trust the 'Boot from CD' option.  The instructions about 'MBR and Track 0' leave me a little baffled - first you're told not to select the option, only to be advised to select it individually later.  Why?

Check that version 6027 hasn't disabled the Windows 10 "Fast-Startup" option...

I've gone back to v5634 for now.

If i uninstall and install, seems the problem got fixed. If you update over the previous version, you got problems with restoring. I confirm the fast boot up disable too. Back to 5634. Other issue: 5634 keeps warning about update, even if i disable check for update option. I´m geting very upset with this version. Only bought because windows 10 update.

Upgrades don't seem to work properly. 2015 to 2016 definitely caused problems. I had to run cleanup tool and reinstall all my machines. Did you select account and disable it there.

USing this version........ so far good and stable ............ no more hang at shutdown or creation point error...........

I updated to Build 6027.

Now, during statup, a message appears "W00100021: Failed to count the snapshot  manager volumes".

This message appears during the "Starting Windows" process (Windows flags and stars) on the black background.

Please can anyone tell me what this means and how do I fix it.?

Hi Roger, can you elaborate that error in a seperate thread?

I have upgraded 5 machines so far to 6037 and haven't encountered any show stopping errors @Technogod. I am checking my open error reports within the next days.

6027 had indeed disabled the 'Fast-Startup' option, so I re-enabled the option and the next start-up was a lot faster.  Sadly, 6027 immediately disabled it again so that subsequent start-ups were dog-slow.

I'm really not too bothered about the slow start-up itself.  However, as a software engineer, my main worry is *why* 6027 is doing this in the first place!

where to find this option @Nick?

You can check in this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power

HiberbootEnabled 0 = Turn off fast startup
1 = Turn on fast startup

Hi Roger! Thanks for this thread and the great display in your video footage. I am afraid that this error you are discussing is due to the design.

When you resize the Acronis Window in the width the captions on the left pane will also disappear.

I think it would be good to have a fixed minimum width for both panes to prevent this. What do you think Dmitry / Anna?

Question is: Why does Acronis influence a Windows Feature in the first place? When you talked about Fast Startup I though you are talking about a faster startup for the Acronis app. If Acronis is slowing down Windows that is just strange.

If you don't feel happy delving about in the registry Karl, right-click over the Start Button (bottom left) then select 'Power Options' and 'Choose what the power buttons do'.  On the next screen, click over 'Change settings that are currently unavailable' and tick 'Turn on fast start-up', then 'Save Changes'.  Please be aware that this will only work for the next power-up if you still have ATIH 6027 installed, as it simply un-ticks the box again.  Subsequent power-ups will be as slow as a standard restart.  I'm still debating going back to the previous version of ATIH 2016, especially on my old and rather slow laptop.

I have sent a query to Acronis asking why 6027 plays around with this setting, but I doubt I'll get a response!

No problem and thanks for bringing this problem up. I think this fast boot option is a cruicial new feature that comes with Windows 8.x and 10 and it is quite strange that a product that claims to be "designed for" these OS is violating features at all, more over as it happens without users permission or knowledge.

It would be interesting to hear the statement from Acronis why this happens at all. I don't suspect that altering specific registry keys is done by accident.

Seems cloud backup is much slower than before this update.

Anyone else noticing this?

the Acronis team once posted a how-to to specify the Cloud Server location. Perhaps the update changed this.

It is set to the same U.S datacenter as it was before.

I used to get 3-5 gigs an hour transferred. In 12 hours (over night) less than 10 gigs.

I might try deleting this backup task and start over.

I decided to go back to ATIH 2016 V5634 on the Laptop in the end.  6027's messing with the Fast Start-Up had disabled the 'Boot on Lid Open' feature as well as making the boot time unacceptably slow.  I'm going to stick with the older version of ATIH 2016 until Acronis either fix the problem or come up with a reasonable explanation of why they are changing those options in the first place.

Let me try: Errare humanum est.  / Most of reasons for computer issues are sitting in front of the screen / Cisco terminology: Layer 8 error ;)

Perhaps you might want to downgrade aswell with a clean uninstallation / installation to the previous version before touching the job, so you can see if the problem is limited to the current release or the job, or other network influences. It might be also an issue with the Acronis servers.
You could watch the Windows Ressource Monitor (Network tab ) and note the IP / DNS Name Acronis is using for the cloud backup and doing a pathping and tracert to see how the connection is basically. The problem with the internet is that routing isn't a static thing so performance of cloud services may differ within short amount of times and even without user interaction.
