C: disc backup failure
Of a sudden when trying to backup my C: drive I get a message that states:
"failed to read sector '6,702,592' of hard disc '1'
failed to read the snapshot (0x10C4A)
CRC error (0x100155)
What gives? Disc 1 is not the C: drive on my computer but a slave drive where only data and photos are stored. The C: program disc is disc 0. This according to the disk manager profile on the Windows XP Pro OS I'm using.
Thanks for your time,
BAB

Thanks, Pat. However I'm not that knowledgeable about the finer points of computer technology and I wonder if you could indicate what this will tell me about a partition and how it can be fixed if there is a problem.
Thanks again,

Open My Computer, right click on each disk, choose properties, tools, error checking, check now (check both boxes in the dialog box: fix errors, and scan for bad sectors). The computer will have to reboot to check the system disk.

Error checking accomplished on both C: and the drive that stores the C: backup. However the same error occurs.

Thanks, Pat.
The chkdsk C: /r command fixed the problem nicely. I saved the Acronis disk checking program for future reference, and which, by the way, did find an error on the C: drive.
Thanks again,
