Thread needs solution

Using Acronis TI home 2009 in Vista x64

Tried selective BU (chose several partitions on one disk) - NOT whole disk BU.  Error came back:

Operation with partition "D:" was terminated. Details: Unable to create volume snapshot (0x70021) Tag = 0xA5695862AAF8E645 Failed to lock volume snapshot. (0x10C449) Tag = 0x14181C22EF45AF36 Already locked (0x9) code = E0000007) Tag = 0xABF5B651C7D88E41

Was unable to search / find this err msg / codes on Acronis' site.  Found suggestion to get / run Acronis Report tool.  Did that.  Report file is attached.  Also attached report file from Ghost Partition Info tool.

If someone knows the likely reason(s) for the listed errs / codes, & has suggestions, great.  Otherwise (or also), those experienced in the report files from Acronis report tool, or Ghost's, please take a look - see if something obvious is wrong.

Acronis rpt shows several "E's" under the "C" column, which per instructions, suggests if see E's there, run chkdsk / R.  I did that on my E: drive [named Documents in the report].  Check disk didn't find errors on E:\.  Then RE ran Report tool - to see if cleared up the "E" (error) for E:\ drive in the report - it didn't.

Also ran Ghost 15 "Partition Info tool" (do NOT have it installed on same machine - just ran the tool).  It shows all cyl / head info, and usually reports errors like overlapping partitions.  Best can tell, no real probs like that.

Thanks.

Is your Vista using SP 2?

Are you using the latest build of 2009? If not downlaod and install that and see if your problem clears up. I assume that 2009 has worked OK previously?

Try updating the SNAPAPI driver for 2009 which you can download from snapapi380

Thanks Colin,

Yes, using latest TI 2009 build (9809). Yes, it worked in Widows before. Yes, SP2.

Appreciate the link, but no info on driver version / date (v3.8.0?) Where did you find an "update" for 2009 snapapi.dll?

I may already have the latest snapapi driver? I see the file is located C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\SnapAPI\

Wouldn't upgrading to latest build also have updated snapAPI? Current ver is 3.10.0.573, last modified 9/15/10 (looking at file details in FileAlyzer). The copy you linked was modified 3/1/10 - appears to be an older version.

I finally got a BU to complete under Windows. I re ran check disk on D: - that the err log said it couldn't lock (though 1st run of chkdsk didn't find ANYthing. Then uninstalled / reinstalled TI home 2009. Downloaded build 9809 again. Comparison of last & earlier d/l were identical. Used the last one to install, just for grins.

In BU, I didn't specify any files to exclude (like .tmp) - read somewhere it had caused some problems. Dunno, just grasping at straws since didn't get much help. Also didn't use any encryption this time. Unless re run of chkdsk on D: found something (even though said it didn't) that the 1st run didn't find (even though said found nothing), kinda doubt chkdsk & D: had anything to do w/ the problem.

Note: when reinstalled bld 9809, the snapAPI.dll was v3.8.0.462, modified 8/15/09.

Anyone know how to definitely find the latest vers. of snapAPI for TIH 2009?

The previous TI 2009 installation showed snapAPI was v3.10.0.573. Don't know where v 3.10 came from - don't remember updating it, but may have. Couldn't find anything about a v3.10 in lots of searches on Acronis. I find no links for "this is THE latest ver of snapAPI for TI 2009. There are several links to some version in KBs, but many contain diff versions of snapAPI.

Technically the one that comes with the last build is the most upto date build of snapAPI, others are available where people are suffering specific problems.

Having said that I can no longer find any links to snapAPI for 2009 either.
