Upload/Download limited?

Thread needs solution

Hi, since some day i registered for the 1 month free online backup trial...

I downloaded the stand alone client "Acronis True Image Online", login with my user and pass, and start to test this product.

I notice the upload and the download sre strangely slow, my connect is a 100mbit optic fiber (http://www.speedtest.net/result/2356877527.png), to wuala i upload always from 400kb/s to 600kb/s, i download even faster...

with acronis i upload/download from 120kb/s to maxim 180/200kb/s... :(

so i have 2 question:

1- The upload/download is limited? just because i have a trial or is the same for payng customers?

2- The "Acronis True Image Online" last update was on August 15, 2011, since then the client aren't updated... this is bad, i mean the client seems nice but lack in functionality and support...

i contacted the live chat about this 2 issue, and the operator told me to use the 2013 trial, to have the latest client feature... and is possible with trial 2012 i will have better upload/download speed...

To me this sound bad, i don't want install a trial with 1000 function when i need just 1, the online backup...

Hello Cawalmedia,

Thank you for your post!

Concerning your first question the initial backup speed might be slower than expected when using Acronis Online Backup for the first time. This limitation is applicable for trial and full versions of the product. For more information about Acronis True Image Home Online Backup speed limitations, please follow this article.

I found your support case and it appears your two questions about initial speed limitations and the last update of "Acronis True Image Online" have been resolved. Please feel free to contact me directly if you need additional help.

If you have any other questions, please let me know

Thank you!

:(

sorry but seems you (and the ticket support) intentionally don't understand me... i talk about kB/s...

to wuala i upload from 400to 600kB/s in acronis from 120 to 180kB/s is this normal, yes or not?

Stop tell me the first back up is slower, com on im not dumb... i talk about something else...

"2- The "Acronis True Image Online" last update was on August 15, 2011, since then the client aren't updated... this is bad, i mean the client seems nice but lack in functionality and support..."

You ignored the second question... but i think this mean the true image online will not be updated at all...

 Hello Cawalmedia,

I would like to answer your questions.

  1. to wuala i upload from 400to 600kB/s in acronis from 120 to 180kB/s is this normal, yes or not?

We cannot say whether it is normal or not without investigation of your case. The final upload speed depends on many factors as where the Cloud Services Server resides, route to the server, network load in particular time period. What you have to check when you experience low upload rates is:

  • In backup settings check that no transfer speed limit has been set for connections.
  • Make sure that the closest Datacenter has been chosen for your account. Upload to servers in the US would be slower than to the DC in Strasburg if you are located in Europe. To create an account on the europeean DC, log in to the europeean Acronis website and create a new test account. And to the US website for the US DC accordingly.
  • You can use the tracert command to define the way data is being transferred to the DC and compare it to tracert output to other cloud services in order to see the difference.

In order to find out which DC is being used for your account and it's IP address, please contact our support team to keep this information confidential.

  2. "2- The "Acronis True Image Online" last update was on August 15, 2011, since then the client aren't updated... this is bad, i mean the client seems nice but lack in functionality and support..."

There is no information whether this product will be developed in future as a standalone tool. The product can perform all the functionality claimed and support is provided fully if any issues appear.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

We've been troubleshooting upload speed performance for a few weeks. We have a 100mbps symetrical fiber Internet connection. The only traffic through that interface on our firewall is ABR Online, as we route all other traffic through our cable internet connection with a T-1 as backup. We have three servers with ABR11.5 v30328 and Acronis Online accounts. After detailed analysis, we are able to prove that each server is limited to 25mbps upload speed. If we back one up, our total utilization is 25mbps. If we backup two servers concurrently, our bandwidth uitilization is 50mbps. If we backup all three concurrently, our bandwidth utilization is 70mbps (approaching maximum). Since our large server is 1.5TB, and we based calculations on getting 70-100mbps throughput, this is a problem for us. I have been unable to find a technote that quantifies the per-connection throttling level of ABR Online. Has anyone performed similar analysis with different results?
Thanks,
Rich.
