booting with rescue media: external HDD by USB 3.0 not detected
Hi everyone,
I backuped my data to an external HDD connected by USB 3.0 (MOBO ASROCK 880GHX/USB3.0 with controller usb3 third part FRESCO LOGIC). Everything worked perfectly, I was able to validate all the backups. Then I decided to test my rescue media on a pendrive and I realized ACRONIS did not detect my external HDD if connected by USB3.0. Just to be sure I changed the port to an ordinary USB2.0 and.... HDD was perfectly visible and all my backups validated without any problem.
The question is: is it normal not to be able to use a USB3.0 port? Could the explanation be the controller is third part??
thanks for any help.

Already done. It perfectly works, but obviously it is slower. This is the reason why I was wondering if it is possible to use the USB3 port.
anyway thanks

arma geddon,
I am having the same issues with Fresno Logic and my results are the same as yours. Success only using usb2. You can use a usb2 cable on the usb3 port but it will still be usb2 speeds.
I also had the same issue with a WinPE recovery disk as it did not contain the needed Fresno drivers. Have you found a "inf" driver file for the Fresno Logic?
The Fresno logic controller is on my Asus Laptop.

GroverH,
So far no FRESCO inf driver. By the way does your ASUS BIOS detect the USB3? Mine not. I mean I couldn't boot by USB3 (HDD not detevted)while in windows it works without any problem.
Anyway I have just sent an email to FRESCO support, in case of any news I will let you know, please do the same. I wish to solve the problem
