BOOT CD - Only mouse or keyboard detected, but not both

Thread needs solution

I have a very specific COMBINATION problem (corner case?). Only one item will get recognized...either keyboard or mouse but not both, when using B&R 11 17438 BOOT CD.
The device that is NOT detected will have LEDs just flashing on and off the entire time. So if the keyboard is not detected, the 'keys' that light up so you can type in the dark, will just blink. The mouse has settings LEDs. If that is not detected, they will just blink on and off.

Goals
#1 - I want to report this to make Acronis aware of the issue.
#2 - Hoping for a solution, but not an emergency...I can get by! lol

Specific hardware issue -
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H firmware F8
Keyboard - Microsoft Sidewinder X6
Mouse - Logitech G9x
Acronis Workstation B&R 11 17438 BOOT CD with UR (downloaded from website - MD5 hash OK)

It does not matter which USB ports I use. If both of these items are connected, only one can be seen. If I hook up another average USB mouse and keyboard into the same or any USB ports on mobo, both can be seen and used in boot environment. I have tried tweaking the UEFI settings. No luck, even with USB legacy enabled/disabled.

I had this previous combination but with different motherboards and there was no issue. Seems it is only with the Intel Z77 chipset and the above hardware combination. I have NOT tried other Z77 motherboards since I do not have any others.

Suggestions? Solutions?

 Hello Brian,

Thank you for opening this thread and submitting this issue. I will be glad to assist you with it.

First of all, please check if the USB devices are recognized correctly when USB2.0 support is turned off. For that, boot to Bootable Media boot menu and press F11. Then specify following parameters:

quiet nousb2

You should also check turning off ACPI and APIC support:

quiet apci=off noapic

Here you can read more about Acronis Linux Kernel parameters. If the issue is resolved with one of those, create a custom bootable media with this parameter implemented. This article will guide you through with this.

Should the issue persist, please collect the System Information from the bootable media in two modes:

  1. When the mouse is detected
  2. When the keyboard is detected

and attach them to this thread.

Should you need any additional help, please let me know.

Thank you.

OK. I finally got the chance to do as you suggested. I also tried with the latest build 17440.
Trying to use the Linux parameters got me nowhere. All that happened was I booted into a black screen. Just to be sure, I let the PC sit for 20 minutes each time. No success. Just blackness.

I booted regularly and collected system information and have attached them here.

2 reports.
No mouse and no keyboard.
Had to add .ZIP extension to attach them as your system blocked them as .bz2 files.

UPDATE -
Got my new OCZ Vertex 4 256GB drive. Went to install it. Used OCZ Tools Linux Boot disk to check if firmware needed update.

Same problem occurred. I am suspecting some kind of a Linux boot disk issue and not necessarily Acronis Boot disk specifically.

Hello Brian,

Thank you for your reports. I need to consult with our development team regarding it.

Could you please confirm that after applying the Linux Parameters

quiet nousb2

You should also check turning off ACPI and APIC support:

quiet apci=off noapic

You booted into the product again -> you shall type

/bin/product - to return to Acronis Backup and Recovery Bootable media Wizard.

Looking forward to the reply from you
