Viewing backup images

Thread needs solution

I've always been able to view everything in a particular backup job by simply clicking on a particular backup, such as Documents (D)_full_b3_s1_v1.  Lately however, the following happens:  When I click on a backup job, I get another window listing all previous backups, with "Please locate the last volume of the backup" as the title of the window.   I click on the last volume and I get the same message again, as many as 5 or 6 times.  I will then finally be able to see the file in the backup.  However I will sometimes get a new window listing previous backups, with "Locate the volume with number '1'." If I then click the backup I'm interested in, the next window changes to "Locate the volume with number '2'."  It will go on and on thru 3 and 4 ad 5, etc. until I just give up.  This used to work very well but no more.  I even deleted my backup jobs and started fresh, but with the same result.  Any ideas??  Thanks!!

Lee, please ensure that you have updated to build 6571 for ATIH 2016 so that you have the latest fixes for known problems in this area.

Next, please do a validation for the backup task that created the backup images that you are trying to open to ensure that the Acronis Database information for the task is validated.

If you are still seeing the same issue, then see post: https://forum.acronis.com/forum/117232#comment-359062 and try the steps outline there to delete specific database files.

I think that removing the .tib cache is all that's needed... I'd go this route first - it's easy enough

If you're having the "Please locate the last volume..." issue when opening backups in Windows Explorer - try deleting all the files in C:\Users\[your_username]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database

It's intended for a slightly different error behavior, but found it works for this too (in most cases).  If not, then the database repair mentioned by Steve should do the trick.
