Probleme beim Testen der ATI 2018

Thread needs solution

Hallo Neu-Installer,

Hello New Installer,

So far I use the verse 2013 (early 2009/2010), because I was not always satisfied with the successor types. The current version has become interesting for me, although the run times are still "eternal".

Before re-installing under current Windows 10 Pro, I have saved the current system via the integrated MS "Restore Point". But then the new 2018 deleted the old Acronis entries to enter itself.

A restoration to the former operating state but totally "in the pants", because the old ATI 2013 remains totally deleted, so the calculator suddenly without any ATI is.

Ask:

  1. Is this so wanted or where is the evil?
  2. Can 2013 be upgraded with 2018 or must it be purchased afresh?

ATIH 2018 Build 9202 is the first public release version but is actually the 5th build that I have seen starting from the initial Beta Technical Preview build (9092) through to the final Beta build (9166), so has been tested by a fair number of different users who enrolled in the Beta testing programme.

There is no direct upgrade path from ATIH 2013 to 2018 without the requirement to first uninstall the old version - this was also true for the 2017 version and documented in the ATIH 2017 FAQ document shown in the FAQ panel of the forum.

Windows 10 by default disables the Windows System Protection mechanism (used for storing Restore Point data) but I have not heard of Acronis removing such restore points if you have created one, but again, I wouldn't really expect such a restore point to capture the complete software installation.

I would expect that ATIH 2018, when installed, would probably remove your old 2013 installation as it uses the same target installation folders to store its data, and the two versions cannot coexist together.

You would need to purchase an upgrade license for ATIH 2018 based on your current license held for ATIH 2013.  When you install the ATIH 2018 upgrade it will ask you to provide two serial numbers, one for 2018 and one for your older 2013 version.

wippigallus wrote:

With the new version 9207 we have stored the drive C: \ as well as the library files on an external HDD and also found there.

Attempts to back up these stored values with Backup -> Recovery fail because ATI does not recognize the HDD at all despite admin rights.

What needs to be done to display the external HDD-Lw G: \?

Sorry, but I am not sure that I understand what you have done here?

When you say you "have stored the drive C:\ as well as the library files on an external HDD" - do you mean you have backed up these to the external drive or you have moved them to the external drive?  If the latter, then are you booting Windows from the external drive?

How is the external drive connected and how is it formatted?

What does Acronis show for the external drive or does it not show it at all?

1) When you say you "have stored the drive C:\ as well as the library files on an external HDD" - do you mean you have backed up these to the external drive...?

2) How is the external drive connected and how is it formatted?

3) What does Acronis show for the external drive or does it not show it at all?

ad 1)  The backup was sent to the externeal HDD directly

ad 2)  That drive was backuped before with ATI 2013 correctly, it's connected by a cable

ad 3)  Only the PC-drive-partition  C:\ is present and no D:\ (anorther partition of the PC-HDD) and no external drive.

Can you post some screen shots showing what you see for both Acronis and in Windows with regard to the external drive?

Did you uninstall ATIH 2013 before installing ATIH 2018?

YES i did!

wippigallus, thanks for the screen images and confirmation that you uninstalled 2013 before installing 2018.

The message shown on your screen says it all:
There is no data to restore
Create your first backup so that its contents are displayed here

The issue here is that your GUI screen image shows a backup called: DESKTOP-E5AR0BC
but your other image only shows backup files for:
Bibliotheken_full_b1_s1_v1.tib
Lokales Laufwerk (C)_full_b1_s1_v1.tib

You need to locate DESKTOP-E5AR0BC_full_b1_s1_v1.tib (or other b and s numbers) in order to have data to Recover for this backup.

Wippigallus wrote:

At the moment I do not understand this correctly, because even if I start my computer with the Linux-based BOOT DVD of ATI 2018, the external drive with the BACKUPs is not displayed.

Why are not the * .tib generated with ATI 2013? Neither with software program nor boot DVD?

What type of external drive is involved here?  Is this USB 3.x or how is it connected?

I would recommend creating and using the Simple Rescue Media for ATIH 2018 which does not use Linux, but uses WinRE taken from the system where the Rescue Media Builder runs.

Your ATI 2013 .TIB files should be visible within Windows Explorer and in the ATI 2018 GUI if you take the option to 'Add existing backup', provided that they exist on the backup drive you are connecting.

Here are the photos of the moment-status produced by the Linux-based-boot-disk. No external HDD is there wether in BACKUP nor in RECOVERY.

Thanks for the further information and images.  Very strange and I have no explanation for why you are not seeing your external disk drives, especially if these are USB 2.0 and relatively small capacity (1TB or less).

Can you see the drive(s) OK when booting from the ATIH 2013 Rescue Media?

I have tested the ATI-2018-Build 9207 on 3 different PCs and with all 3 Extern-HDDs; but I d'nt find anywhere the externals wether with the installed software nor the boot-disk.

The explorer shows it well.

I wonder if you are seeing the same issue as reported in topic: Rescue Media USB support

I will look for it but there are many terms to read.

----------~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Testing the ATI 2018 in Windows 10, 64 bit + Windows 7, 64 bit, brings always the same problems.

In reply to by truwrikodrorow…

Resume:

The new Acronis True Image (ATI) 2018 Build 9207 software is not suitable for Windows 10, Windows 7,
since in both cases different, external HDDs can only be detected and described in the BACKUP-mode.

A RECOVERY is impossible because external drives, which are wired via USB 2.x, are not found.

Even worse are the procedures when Linux-based boot disks are used.
In this case, an external drive with backups (* .tib) is not detected and reported.

Thus, no recoveries can be made.

If I create a UNIVERSAL_RESTORE_medium (ball as a desktop symbol), the following function is not reported:

"PCI \ VEN_1022 & DEV_7807 & SUBSYS_FC671179 & REV_11"

but I d'nt find it in the Internet.

Overall the current offered software is useless and d'nt replaces the old working 2011 +2013.

The described errors were sent to the German-Acronis-Support, until long however without further response.

I have read the posts and seen that it is not about the errors of external drives, but about hardware-functions.
But the fact is, the boot-disks are "faulty" programmed

Where is PRIM_1 (C:\) in Build 9207?

Wippigallus, you need to click on "Vollstandige Volume-Liste"  to see hidden / system partitions or drives.

Thanks Steve, I just overlooked the thin text.

On a computer, 2 operating systems are installed: Win 10 + Win 7

Can I boot both with only one floppy disk (Linux-based or WinPE)?

What datas can be found on the WinPE-disk?

A new problem comes with ATI 2018, a fake programmed backup can not be deleted, in order to start the correct backup (files and not a complete-drive should be backed up).

The green button can not be deleted (Backup jetzt)
