How long should recovery of 500 GB take?
I started recovering a backup of a full PC (3 partitions: FAT16, Recovery, and C:) onto a new hard drive of the same size (1 TB) that I formatted with GPT. The drive with the backup and the new drive are both SATA drives each in an external drive case connected to a Windows 7 Pro PC with 8 GB RAM by USB 3.0.
Acronis True Image 2015 currently says that the recovery has 1 day 20 hours 50 minutes remaining, and it keeps increasing the time remaining, adding another minute every second. When it first started it said the time remaining was 12 hours. Now it says almost two days!
Is it normal for the recovery of half a TB to take two full days or longer? It is processing about 0.01 GB every two seconds. When I divide 500 GB by 0.01, that's about 26 hours (if I calculated correctly), not 48 hours. Maybe the progress bar is just not calculating the estimated time remaining correctly?
Update: After 7 hours of recovering the backup it says estimated time remaining is 2 days 8 hours 31 minutes, and the estimated time is still increasing. Is there any way to make it go faster?
Update: After 14 hours of recovering the backup it has only recovered 154 GB. it still says estimated time remaining is 2 days 7 hours 20 minutes.
Update: Now it says 2 days 13 hours 29 minutes remaining, and it seems to have stopped recovering the backup; it's stuck at 156.6 GB recovered and is not increasing.
Help Help Help!
Thanks.
