TIH2012, Synology NAS DS211j
Hi,
I'm just evaluating the RTM trial of Acronis True Image Home 2012 and would like to backup to my Synology NAS DS211j.
The backup location browser list only the top level "NAS connections" but does not show the NAS in any of its sub-levels.
Any hints whether this NAS will work at all with TIH2012 or how to get this running?

Hi same here,
TIH2012 can't see the contents of my Synology NAS DS-207+ when I want to retrieve a previous image.
When I browse for files I can see the network and the NAS. I am able to give the credentials and the connection test is displayed as OK. However when I click on "connect" nothing happens.
When I want to validate a previous image sitting on the same NAS, I receive an error message:
Access to file denied
Event code : 0x00040014+0x0000FFF0+0x800704C3
this code is not known in the knowledge base

How can Acronis boast to support NAS when one among the best NAS brands is not supported?
This is hard to believe. Which ones did they test?

Hi
Meanwhiel i think the better NAS support only comes with a nas that has SMB file protocol.. and at least my 411 slim dosnt hav that feature.

Are there any news on proper NAS support? In the meantime I've ordered and installed ATIH 2012, however, my NAS does not show up in the list of available NAS, drives/connections when selection a backup location.

My NAS (Synology) is connected.
I test this connection and is OK.
But to make a system backup is not possible.
A suggestion is to use IP-nr in stead of name. How can I manage that?

Hi jaapveen
if your UNC path to a folder on the nas is :
\\SYNOLOGYNAS\FOLDER\ where SYNOLOGYNAS is the UNC name of your nas
you may access it by
\\192.168.1.55\FOLDER\
Of course you need to know the ip adress of your nas........... if it is atomatically assigned by DHCP it my not work if the adress changes......thats "the dark side" of this workaround :-(
