Try & Decide Does Not Work

Thread needs solution

When I try to use Try & Decide I get the message if the file attached about T&D not working with Non-Stop Backup. THe next messge is that T&D failed to start. I had this problem before, but with the latest update it has returned. I do not use the Recovery Manager. The Non-stop Backup service is disables and is not running.

I must say, I have been using this product for years and this one has by far the worst quality issues.

Thanks,

Alan

Try to uninstall, use the cleanup utility, reboot and reinstall.

That fixed many T&D issues.

The message that it is not compatible with NSB will be there even if NSB is not running.

I am not concerned with the NSB message - it is the "Try & Decided Failed to Start" message that comes up afterwards. I am not sure what Cleanup utility you are referring to. Is it part of TI2011?

It seems to me that T&D is an important function and I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to make it work.

I am referring to this cleanup utility

Anyone know why I am getting the message about the Non-Stop Backup? This is the second time I updated the product and then had to un-install it and reinstall it.

Alan,

Just to be clear. You will get the "cannot run with NSB" message anyway. I don't know if this is by design or a bug, but, regardless of whether NSB is running, regardless of whether the actual NSB service is running, you will see this pop up window.

Just don't worry about it.

The uninstall/install seems to be fixing issues when T&D doesn't start (after this incompatibility message with NSB)

Is T&D working now?

OK, I removed it an installed it again and put on the latest updates. I still get the message about not running with NSB, but T&D starts. Then it immediately tells me it has to reboot and when it does, T&D isn't running. Totally useless and I have spent too much time trying to get this software to work.

It look like the reinstall fixed some driver issue.

Did you active the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager by any chance? Sometimes these 2 are conflicting.

Deactivate the ASRM before using T&D and see if it fixes your issue.

No, it doesn't look ASRM is activated. So I guess I am out of luck with T&D. Too bad Acronis offers no free support after 30 days - that is terrible. Email or chat would be fine.
