[RESOLVED] USB Drives No Longer Recognised in Windows Explorer

Hi, John7.
The ATIH 2012 build 7119 update does not remove them (SnapAPISetup.msi and VirtualDiskSetup.msi). You may wish to remove them before installing the update.
I had forgotten that I installed one of the extra programs until after I applied the build 7119 update. I unistalled the extra program after I had applied the update and my memory card problems came back! As well, I could not longer start the ATIH 2012 GUI. It looks like the ATIH 2012 build 7119 update did not take into account the extra program.
There was no repair option in the Control Panel -> Programs and Features for ATIH 2012. I ran the ATIH 2012 build 7119 update again and saw an option to repair the installation. After repair and reboot, everything was working again.

Installed ATIH 2012 build 7119 last night and all my USB devices are now properly recognised and working again even as I type, I haven't had a chance yet to do a backup so I can't vouch for any possible issues on that front yet.

My USB 3.0 external HDD is still not recognized with ATI 12 build 7119 installed. I can restore an image before ATI 12 and it works fine.
System will make a sound when I plug it in and it does show on device manager for a few seconds and then disappears. I have tried the repair option and still no luck.

John7,
It is best not to manually remove those two drivers as if anything goes wrong you'll be met with a BSOD next time you boot and your PC wil sulk.
It is possible they are not being overwritten when the later build is installed. Do you know what build number they are?
There is the Acronis Cleaner for 2012 which will safely remove the registry entries that will allow the files to be overwritten either wiht the latest build or by downloading the SNAPAPI zip file. However, that may not ahve been updated as yet to the same builds as included with b7117 of 2012.
The 2012 registry cleaner is available from here

Colin, Virtual Disk Driver is 1.1.75 and SnapAPIc3.12.661. I am not surprised they have apparently created yet another potential problem. That would be why my queries were ignored, they didn’t have a clue what to do and were not interested in sorting it.
There must be many customers who were told to apply these patches (and other patches) since 2012 was released. We appear to have been abandoned to sort it ourselves or other customers such as you try to work out a solution. As said before I am not surprised just saddened that once good software and firm have become like this.
I will not be upgrading for now and will hang one in the hope they, unlikely I know, get the program working and installing properly at some stage and provide support for there products.
