Duplicate Tasks

Thread needs solution

Running AB&R 10 build 11639.

I noticed that one of my backup jobs is running twice, one right after the other. In looking in the tasks for that server all the tasks are duplicated. ie two full backups, two incrementals and two differential, plus duplicated clean up tasks . In the screen where I select one of the duplicated tasks I am unable to delete it.

Anyway I can remove the duplicate tasks short of deleting the machine and policy and readdind?

Thanks

Hello Larry!

Thank you for finding time to report about the issue. I completely understand your concern and will be glad to assist you.

This looks like a scheduler glitch. I would suggest you to update it in order to resolve the issue. Please follow the below instrustions:

  1. Download Acronis Scheduler Manager. Open command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd); run schedmgr.exe and issue the following command:
    task zap
This will erase all traces of the tasks.
  2. Update Scheduler as mentioned in this article
  3. Reboot the machine
  4. Recreate the tasks

This should resolve the issue faced. Should it persist, please provide us with Acronis Info from machine in quesiton.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

Yana,

Thanks for the reply and sorry it took so long to get back.

I have downloaded the schedule manager and the updated schedular. Before I run thes programs I need to verify somthing. When I open the command window to run the schedmgr.exe will I be able to specify or choose which task to 'zap'? There are only a couple hundred tasks there and I would hate to loose all of them.

Dear Larry!

Thank you for your reply and your question, I appreciate it!

task zap command will delete all the tasks. In case you need to remove just one task, please follow the below instructions:

  1. Run schedmgr.exe and issue this command
    get list
It will provide you with the list of tasks you have
  2. Find the one you need to delete and enter the following command:
    task [task_number]
This will get you to this task menu
  3. As soon as you are in the task menu, enter
    Delete
and the task will be removed

It is preferable to remove all the tasks during the updated, but in your case I understand how inconvenient it will be. So please remove just the duplicated plans and proceed with the update.

Let me know in case something's confusing you - I will be happy to assist!

Thank you
