How to create a mountable disk image?

Thread needs solution

I am upgrading from a Win 10 laptop to a Win 11 laptop. I would like to create a complete backup of everything on the Win 10 computer on a USB drive that I can then mount on the Win 11 computer and access the files and folders with File Manager. I can then copy stuff over as I need to.

A friend told me that Acronis can do that, but I see that there are seveal products. Can someone tell me which one I need to get and maybe any tips I need to get it to work?

Thanks

PS: I am not looking for something free. I am happy to pay for something that is reliable and easy to use.

Hello!

Welcome to the forum!

You can use Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office for that purpose: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/products/true-image/

Install an agent on the Win10 machine and perform a full backup to the USB drive.

After installing Win11, migrate the license to the new machine and reinstall the backup agent there: https://kb.acronis.com/node/60194

Once the license is migrated and the agent is installed on Win11, you can re-add the backups in the console following the instructions in the KB: https://kb.acronis.com/content/60918

To restore files from the explorer, please refer to this KB: https://kb.acronis.com/content/63240

Feel free to reply if you have any additional queries.

Thanks in advance!

Jose,

Thanks for the help. I was able to install the Home Office trial on the old Win 10 machine and the disk image backup is about half done.

I was also able to install it here on the new Win 11 machine. As soon as the backup finishes, I will try to access the files here.

One of the KB articles above mentioned "syncing two computers". Is there a detailed KB about that? I was planning on using Beyond Compare to sync the folders.

Thanks

PS: I just noticed that my posts are awaiting moderation. I did;t notice that before, so I may have posted the same or similar posts. If so, keep just the most complete.

That moderatin message could be more prominently displayed.
