ATI doesn't wake system up

Thread needs solution

I have a cloud backup scheduled for 0400, and if the system is awake it runs just fine. If the system is in sleep state, it won't run until I manually wake the machine up with the mouse or keyboard.

Once the machine is awake, the backup runs.

This is a desktop, not a laptop.

I have hybrid sleep and hybernate disabled; sleep timeout is 30 minutes; wake timers are enabled.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Could there be a BIOS setting involved? The motherboard manual has no index, and I don't see anything that looks relevant. (It's an ASUS X99-E.)

When I was using ATI 2014 on my Windows 7 Pro machine, I had this problem. I set up a task in the Task Scheduler to wake the system a minute before my scheduled backup and that worked fine.

Now, in ATI 2017 on my Windows 10 Pro machine, the system wakes for my task, but then the Schedule2 service is not actually starting the task. Acronis is working on this (and I am expecting a call from their team on Monday to discuss it further). Meanwhile, I set up a task in the Task Scheduler to forcibly restart the Schedule2 service a minute before my scheduled backup and that works.

Have you used the MVP Log Viewer to know for sure if your  problem is the system not waking up, or ATI not starting the backup task?

If the problem is Windows not waking up, set up a task to execute a program... "wscript /b" and be sure to set it up to wake up the system.

If the problem is that ATI is not running the backup, set up the task to run "schedmgr.exe service restart". You can download schedmgr.exe from Acronis at https://kb.acronis.com/SchedulerManager Alternatively, you could create a batch file with the following and run that:

net stop AcrSch2Svc
net start AcrSch2Svc
exit

Hello Jerry,

In addition to what Bruno suggested, you can also do the following:

1) install all available Windows updates and the latest drivers from Asus. Sometimes a system driver, not directly responsible for power management could cause an issue with waking up the computer

2) look if there is any rule that forbids or limits computer wakeup in the Advanced Power Management in BIOS: enter the BIOS - go to Advanced settings - APM Configuration. If possible, make a screenshot/photo of that screen

3) check if the problem is with Windows Power options: open Windows menu, type powercfg.cpl, press Enter, save your current settings in a custom plan ("Create a power plan"), then set "High performance" plan as the active (current) power plan, schedule a backup with Acronis in some time from now (at least 5 minutes), put the computer into sleep mode and see if it wakes up and whether the backup succeeds

Slava
