TI 2019 still can't see my external backup drive

Thread needs solution

Upgraded to Win10 from Win7.  Had a backup taken under Win7 and now TI says it can't see the external backup drive (see image 1). However, the drive is there and has the same drive letter (F) and the date/time listed in the TI backup matches the date/time in file explorer (see image 2).

Tried the suggestion of changing the destination of the backup to re-point to the same directory but that didn't work... same error.

The funny thing is that when I choose "recovery" TI will open that backup and I can see my saved files (see image 3).

If I say "back up now" it appears to start the backup.  I stopped the backup and it says, as it should, "The last backup has been stopped by user".  My hunch is that if I let the backup run to completion the original error (can't see backup drive) would probably go away.

Any idea what's going on, and how someone might re-link the backup to the external drive without having to start another backup?

Ron, any upgrade to a new version of Windows will change the partition identifier(s) of drives that are attached during that process, so it is likely that your external drive has hit that effect, but reselecting the Destination for the backup task should normally resolve the problem.

Question: are you trying to continue your Windows 7 backup task after upgrading to Windows 10?

If yes, then I would recommend not doing so as any new backup, unless doing Full backups only, will be very large due to all the changes in data.

I would recommend starting a new backup task for the new Windows 10 system and keep your Windows 7 backup on the side in case there is something you need to recover from it.
