cannot archive windows 10 system discs as full .tib files - are declared corrupt by true vision restore utility.

Thread needs solution

With the latest version of True Image, I made a new recover path, narrowed the recovery from full PC to only my C system drive, and designated the file path to my USB storage drive holding backups.

The system on the drive was windows 10 version 1909.

The backup was defined as full, and passed verification after being created.  It was first backup for that C drive.

I then launched the recovery utility and discovered that file was declared as corrupt.    ALL my windows 10 archives made from another Windows 10 disc were declared corrupt as well.

The only recoverable archive was an old windows 7 archive.

Do not panic! Hopefully it is merely ATI 2021 having a hissy-fit (which, unfortunately it is prone to doing).

A bit more information would help:

  1. what version and build of ATI do you previously have installed?
  2. did you do a clean install or install over the previous version
  3. do you currently have build 30480 installed (the latest build)
  4. if you created a new backup of your system drive it should use the *tibx architecture (introduced in ATI 2020) rather than the older *.tib architecture.

What happens if you double click on the backup in Explorer - does it open or give an error message. You could also try to validate the backups and see if there is an error message.

Before doing any of those things may I suggest that you try doing a repair installation.

In addition to Ian's questions, are you using the Acronis Rescue Media created by the same version of ATI as used to create the backup image files?

If you have created .tibx backup files, as is the default for Disk backups created by ATI 2020 and 2021, then all earlier versions of ATI will not work with these as do not know what they are!

Also, it is very important that .tibx files are not renamed to change the file extension to .tib as this too will not work - they have to stay as .tibx files.
