Restore operation failed with format/resize error, and input/output error

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I am trying to restore whole pc from the cloud. My whole back up is about 3 TB, so It’s extremely slow.

I ended up restore partition by partition, will that achieve the same result as a whole pc recovery?

Another question is, when I try to recover a large partition of 2TB, I have encountered operation failed error. Please see the attachment for the error log. This force me to retry again, which is very very frustrating. Is there anyway I can pre-download the back up from the cloud and then use the image to restore from local?

thank you

Are you restoring a system disk with Windows on it or only a data disk?

In case of a system disk, you don't want to restore it one partition at a time. On such disks, different partitions usually depend on each other to recover the system to a state it was in previously. So download all of it first, if you can, then start the recovery. Before you begin recovery, first verify that the backup is not corrupted and in a good healthy state.

For a data disk, it doesn't really matter, you can recovery it one partition at a time.

Another question is, when I try to recover a large partition of 2TB, I have encountered operation failed error. Please see the attachment for the error log. I don't use the cloud feature of True Image, never have and never will. So I can't tell for sure, but I would expect that you can download your data in one go, or pre-download as you say, that is download it all ahead of time, before you start the recovery operation.

Looks like you should be able to download it all using a web browser. You need to go to the "Dashboard".

https://cloud.acronis.com/

See the link below for "Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud". I think this is another product (or is it a shared service name?). However, the process should be the same or similar for True Image.

I have access to Dashboard using my Acronis account, but I don't think I have access to this feature, because I don't pay for the extras on annual basis. You can see in the screenshot below how that should look like. On the right side there is a gear icon. Click on it, and then Recovery.
