Boot CD isn't booting with HP dv5 Notebook (Acronis TI Home 10)

Thread needs solution

Dear Acronis support & experienced user,

I was a very satisfyed user of Acronis TI Home 10 - until now.

I changed the hardware to a HP Pavilion dv5 (1160eg) and recognized, the Acronis boot medium don't finds the bootloader on this system, and so it's not booting.

Since I've learned Windows XP setup also don't works with this machine type I assume Acronis TI 10 boot CD isn't working for the same reason: The HDD Controler Driver is missing.

Trying to boot results in the message "Bootloader not found"
Tryed...
- with installed vista
- with installed Linux (ubuntu, with Grub2)
- without any OS and recreated MBR & Partition Table
- re-installed Vista (setup booted from DVD & Install worked)
nothing worked.

Running TI on the installed vista is no problem (I believe because Vista uses a propper driver). Only booting with the CD don't works.

I hope you can help me - would really like to go on using Acronis TI!

Best Regards & Greetings.

Jens

Jens,

Can I just confirm is this TIH 10 or TIH 2010 that you have? What build are you using?

So, Windows itself is booting and working OK, just the Acronis rescue CD won't boot the notebook, is that correct?

Have you tried downloading the SAFE media option which is under the Add Ons tab in your Acronis account. Install this and remake the rescue CD. Assuming you get to the Acronis menu you can choose SAFE this may allow the Linux kernel to boot your laptop.

If you don't get as far you just see an Acronis Loading...... or a Kernel Panic message then other things need to be tried.

In your Notebooks BIOS is their an option to enable 'Legacy Mode' or disable AHCI? If there is and AHCI is enabled, don't disable it and try and boot into Windows, only disable it whilst trying the rescue CD and then re-enable it for booting into Widnows.
