Build 6613 fails to delete prior backups

Thread needs solution

I have two backups scheduled. Both are Single version scheme. This is supposed to create a new version and then delete the prior version. Both backups run but both fail to delete the prior version. I have to go in and delete them manually each morning. I have deleted both backups (schedules, files and folders) and set them up again to no avail.

Any ideas, anyone?

If the non-working task is a carryover from 2014, or a task which has been edited/changed, this might explain why is it not working.

As there is no fix for this specific task, your only choice is to startoverf with new tasks.

My suggestion is to make a custom task of it as per this example, except set the cleanup option to "store no more than 1 recent version, unless you want to keep more versions than your one overwrite each full.

This example of "store 1" should work and will delete the old full immediately following the creation of the new full.

GH11. Create Custom Full Backup Scheme w/auto cleanup.
...Store/Keep 4 versions (chains). Use whatever number best fits the individual needs..

I am expecting it to work and if left unchanged and not modified, it should work for correctly for some time.

Editing an existing task is not recommended.  Rarely does an edited task perform to user expectations. It is usually  better to start with a new task using a new non-identical task name and point to a new storage sub-folder so each task has it own storage folder/sub-folder. Old task can be stopped or deleted from the task listing

Note: I am assuming that you currently have two scheduled tasks with different names being stored in two different storage folders.

Here are some of the rules I use for myself and recommend to others.

1. For each new version, I remove the old. run a cleanup utility. Cleanup the residue and install into a fresh new install.
I don't try to carry old tasks into a new installation.

2. I create all new tasks and do not later modify. If changes needed, I stop using the old task and create a new task.
Each task name is different so no duplication or confusion for the program.

3. Each of my tasks is set up for automatic cleanup so manual deletion of old backups not needed;
or I use manual backups (someimes even backups via CD) with manual deletions.

4.  If a backup is restored, I stop using the restored tasks and create all new tasks after the restore.

I finally totally uninstalled all Acronis products (True Image and Disk Director) and deleted all backups and folders. I cold booted the computer to eliminate any residual tasks. I then re-installed True Image 2015 and set up the two backup schedules from scratch.  So far this seems to have fixed the problem.  I shall monitor its status over the next few days to verify this. One would have thought that the customer service people could have suggested this rather than simply tell me that they would address the issue for $20.00.

Should you want or need to re-install TrueImage in the future, there are Aconis Cleanup Utilities which will remove all remnants of old version so your new install can be clean.  My signature link 4 shows a couple.
