Deleting Acronis does not delete everything.
My backup media failed and had to be replaced. I uninstalled 2015 and reinstalled, but the Backup file still thinks it is adding to the old backup. The .tib file is named xxxxx_full_b9_s1_v1.tib. Thje "b9" must be that it thinks this is the 9th backup of a series but it is now the only one. When I try to mount it, I get "Cannot assign a drive letter to a partition from the backup archive"
Do I need to use the Cleanup utility to remove ALL traces of previous attempts at backing up and the reinstall? If so, do I really have to do the bit which involves editing the registry? I can't believe that a product requires you to do that. It is so easy to get it wrong and screw up the machine completely. I have done the standard uninstall twice now and it seems to remember stuff.
Thanks

Thanks for this. I still think that if you uninstall a product, it should do just that - uninstall. It is easy to add to an existing backup if you want to. But the default should be to start afresh. I used the cleanup utility - an odd product in itself as it runs from a command prompt - and I now have a new, full backup.
Thanks again.
