NIC Driver problem (I think) - can't save image to a share or ftp

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have downloaded the trial version of Acronis True Image 2010 from the site in order to test it. I have a Windos 2003 server connected to my network, where I'd like to save my images on. It is necessary for us to image many PC's a day, so we decided this would be the fastest way. The program works fine for a few of our laptops... However we also have two HP Z-200 workstation computers that we can't image or make images from.

Whenever I type in the path, which is //ghostserver/Images, nothing happens, no login screen comes up, and neither can Acronis find any other PC on the network when running the bootable Acronis on CD. I have also installed an FTP server on the W2k3 machine but no success. I have read some and the cause is problably the NIC driver for the workstation that isn't included in the current version of Acronis, which I regret.

What can I do, is there an easy way to add the right driver somewhere or something? I'm willing to purchase the full version as the trial works fine for the rest of our computers.

Thanks in advance

Hello Jaco,

Let me assist you.

There can be several reasons of the issue:

  • A DHCP Server may not be running in the network.
  • Network setting may not be set correctly in your copy of the standalone version of Acronis True Image.
  • The problem can relate to the network card of the machine or to the card driver shipped with Acronis True Image.

If at least one computer is visible in Computers near me on the Image Archive Selection screen, then try specifying the full UNC path to the desired computer in the "File name" edit box, e.g. \\server\share.

If no computers are visible on the network, but the Computers near me icon is found under My Computer, then please ensure that a DHCP server is running on your network. If you do not use a DHCP server, then please enable network connection, specify network settings manually in the window, available at Tools -> Options -> Network adapters.

If the Computers near me icon is not available under My Computer, then there could be problems either with your network card or with the card driver shipped with Acronis True Image. Please contact Acronis Customer Central and provide information about your network card model and vendor. Please attach Acronis Linux Report to your request as well.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.
