Updating the Acronis Scheduler module

Thread needs solution

Like many others reporting on this board, I am having problems with Full Backups Overwriting when they are set not to do so.

Acronis advised there is an update to the scheduler:
http://forum.acronis.com/content/1518 Updated - Dec 3, 2009

I ran it on my system and it didn't improve things but am not sure the update worked as properties on the Schedul2.exe object both before and after show the same version detail - File Version: 1.0.0.352 Date Modified: 12/11/2009 3:49am. (I’m running TI2010 b6053 on Win7 Professional)

The Acronis link to the update downloads 'scheduler_385.zip' - so presumably the update should take the current version to 1.0.0.352

Can anyone confirm whether the update to the scheduler resolves the overwrite problem as well?

Hello It'sme,

I will surely help you and resolve the issue you have experienced.

The file you've downloaded will update the service to version 1.0.0.385, so most probably in you case Scheduler hasn't been updated properly. Please download the update once again, save it (not to open) somewhere, then unpack it and run install.bat.

You should unpack the .zip file since if you will just run it from the archive, the service won't be updated.

Please let me know if you need any additional assistance.

Thank you.

Thanks Ilya,

I managed to run the update again and this time captured the code as it executed - see attached.

Looks like an authority issue is preventing the update from occuring yet I am running from an Administrator account type.

Please advise what to do.

Hello It'sme,

Thank you for posting, I will be happy to help.

The main problem is that updating the scheduler will not resolve the issue (sorry for the misleading information provided by Ilya). We aware of the issue, it will be fixed in the next released build. The exact date of the new build release is unknown, we are working on it.
To let the .bat file to update the scheduler properly you should have removed the present tasks and stop the service in the following way:
- Download a special Acronis utility;

- Start the Command Prompt from Start -> Programs -> Accessories menu;
- Run the following commands in the folder you saved the file to:

schedmgr task zap
schedmgr service stop
Run the batch file and after that run the command:
schedmgr service start
Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.
Thank you.
