Cannot Download or Build a DD11 Bootable Media CD

Thread needs solution

When I go to the DD11 entry on My Products and Downloads and download the Bootable Media .iso file and burn it to a CD, it won't boot on a laptop whose hard drive won't boot either. I get the error message, "Starting Acronis Loader..." and then, 'Boot failed, press any key...".

Then when I try to build a bootable media CD under WinXP SP3 Home, I can't seem to do so using the WinPE base. Is there a way to make a WinPE bootable CD under WinXP SP3 Home? I downloaded the WIAK 2 file but it is a .img file and my Roxio Creator 9 doesn't recognize it as a disk image to burn it to CD. Should I change the extension to .iso or just abandon that route? Even so, I can't find clear instructions on how to make a WIAK install on my system and the only option given to get the files is to specify a directory that has WIAK installed. The auto option is not available to me under WinXP. Must I use the Linux kernel to make a bootable CD on this system or is there a way to get a WinPE kernel CD?

Here is a link to a tutorial for creating a WinPE bootable CD for Acronis True Image: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/9449

The bootable media builder application in Disk Director 11 is somewhat different than the example shown, but this should give you the general idea.

Even though you are running WinXP SP3, I would recommend downloading the WAIK3.0 version from Microsoft instead of the WAIK2.0 version. The WAIK 3.0 is based on the Windows 7 kernel and includes many more drivers than the older WAIK 2.0, which is based on the Vista kernel. A WinPE disk made from WAIK 3.0 will boot twice as fast and will work on any PC, regardless of the operating system installed on the PC.

You can change the extension on the final output file to suit your image burning software.
