Connect to remote machine

Thread needs solution

I've installed Acronis Backup & Recovery Advanced Server 10 agent by management console (installed on my pc with windows xp pro sp3 En) to a windows 2003 server, try to connect to this server from e remote console and every thing work properly. I've done the same installing Backup & Recovery Advanced Workstation 10 to a pc (windows xp pro sp3/sp2, firewall disabled), when I try to connect to this pc I see progress bar “connecting to ip” but nothing happens: no connection no error. Try to add the pc to the management server, installed in an other Windows 2003 Server sp2, same thing.
I've tried to install this agent manually to a pc but same problem!
Could you help me? Please!

Thank you.

Try to manual remove the B&R and reinstall it

Hello all,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.
Please do the following to fix the issue:
1) Please restart the services on the computer with Acronis Agent installed:
* Go to Start -> Run -> services.msc
* Right-click on the following Acronis services, and click on Restart:
- Acronis Managed Machine Service;
- Acronis Remote Agent;
- Acronis Scheduler2 Service.
2) Make sure the user, under which you are trying to connect, is a member of both Administrator and Backup operators groups on the machine, to which you are trying to connect:

- Hit Start -> Run and type in compmgmt.msc;

- Click on Local Users and Groups;

- Find the user account that you use to log in and double click on it;

- Click on the Member of tab, then on Add and type in Backup operators. Click OK;

- In the same window type in Administrator and click OK.

3) Make sure that the user account under which you are trying to connect does not have a blank password. This is a restriction of Windows operating system that does not allow connections under user accounts that have blank passwords.
4) Check Firewall settings as described in Firewall Settings for Acronis Products.
5) If the remote computer runs Windows XP, the option Control panel -> Folder options -> View -> Use simple file sharing must be disabled on that computer.
6) Make sure you specify a fully qualified domain name (e.g. mymachine,mydomain.com) when connecting to the remote machine and provide the credentials in the domain\username format.
7) Try to specify the remote computer using the IP address.
8) On the machine with the Acronis Agent reinstall the self-signed certificate:

- Hit Start-Run -> cmd;

- Navigate to:

Windows 32 bit: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\Utils

Windows 64 bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\Utils

- Issue the following command:

acroniscert.exe --reinstall

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.
