License Problem

Thread needs solution

I had AB 12 build 3596 installed and fully working on a server. I uninstalled build 3596 and then clean installed build 3602. I can't assing the license to the server now. It says the license is used. Is there any way to release the license so it can be reassigned to this server?

Have you removed configuration settings also?

This seems to happen for physical hosts only, VMware host licenses are automatically reassigned to the hosts.

When you re-add the machine the license will be re-assigned automatically (in my case).

Yes, configuration settings were removed. Now it is not possible to re-add the machine.

Have you tried to re-install the Agent to your physical machine?

When I re-added the machine it automatically installs the newer version, also no message appears license related although 1/1 license is shown in license overview. Maybe Acronis can reproduce this error.

Agent was reinstalled on the server. I am allowed to log into my account and sync successfully. The license is not reassigned and can't be added. The license overview is showing 1/1 with 0 licenses available.

The physical machine can be added again as long you don't sync licenses. Once synced the physical machine cannot be added and shows missing license error, so I can reproduce this error.

Even removing the Agent from target machine doesn't release the license in the Management Server. We should open a support request.

Thanks for your confirmation of the problem. I have submitted a support request.

Have you received a solution/workaround from Acronis?

Yes.

I'll send you a PM.

Hello.  What was the solution or workaround Acronis offered for this issue?  I reinstalled the agents on my 2 vhosts.  Now, the management server reports 2/2 licenses in use, but upon checking which servers are using those licenses, it says "This type of licenses is not assigned to any machine or device."

I am not sure what needs to be done here, but so far tech support has been taking well over a week to figure out what the issue is.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you Mustang.  Your solution appears to have worked, and I was able to assign the licenses.  Now however, I am seeing "One or more machines are not assigned a license" when backing up any of the virtual machines on the host.  Perhaps it's time to open another ticket...

Glad to hear you could assign the licenses. Sorry, I can't help with the VM problem. I think you'll need to open a ticket.

I sent you a PM.
